Add in one part Truphone, one part 3G iPhone and one part mobile VoIP and you have the recipe for the iPhone’s first official Mobile VoIP application.

Leading Mobile VoIP and UK based Truphone announced today that their Mobile VoIP application for the iPhone is now available for download through Apple’s iPhone application store. This is the first and only “offical” Mobile VoIP application for the iPhone, beating competitors such as fring and iCall to the punch. It will be interesting to see how long Truphone remains the only official Mobile VoIP iPhone application (I have a feeling their is going to be a whole slew of them over the next few weeks). For Truphone, the iPhone application was not about being first to market, but about creating a Mobile VoIP application for the masses; one that was built by experts in the both the fields of VoIP and mobile communications With the Truphone iPhone application, Truphone also broadens the number of potential users of their service as they previously only supported the Nokia N & E Series phones.
