Skype Mobile Review

About Skype Mobile
Skype is a little piece of software that makes communicating with people around the world easy and fun. With Skype you can say hello or share a laugh with anyone, anywhere. And if both of you are on Skype, it’s free. Skype mobile is the mobile version of the peer-to-peer (P2P) VoIP phone service. With Skype mobile and a Window mobile 5.0 and higher cellular phone that has WiFi capabilities you can call your Skype friends for free and everyone else for the same low rates as you would with your PC based Skype account.

i was able to download skype on my mobile phone but was a bit disappointed with the feature. i leave away from my family and i always communicate with them through skype. i was able to speak w/them but unable to view them which i normally could do w/my laptop. ive tried looking for the settings to activate the camera but failed to do so.

I have to give the Skype Mobile for Verizon the lowest rating because they broke the key features that would make the application viable: use of WiFi for calls without using Verizon minutes.
When initializing the app the setup stage indicates that you cannot use WiFi for Skype calls and that Skype calls will be processed by Verizon network (e.g. minutes on Verizon). So the result is that if you pay for Skype to use it on a Droid to save minutes on Verizon you are gong to be disappointed. The ONLY value is the ability to make international calls that will use the Skype charge instead of Verizon; however, you cannot use Skype internationally.
The effort by Verizon to neuter Skype has succeeded. Skype should be ashamed in complying with this solution.

Skype, you disappointed me again. Competitors like google voice, fring reduced their out rates but you still decided to keep your charges high. Also given the problems with skype mobile on android devices i started to have second thoughts as having skype as my primary voip tool.

if we are able o use the inbuild camera of your mobile phone with Skype espically when on call then it would vbe very good. Do you have any such software for it.

Nice when it works.
Lacking “Join Call” button. For me this is major because when 3G is sketchy a dropped Skype call means you can not rejoin like you can with Skype for Windows.

I talk on skype from my Android to another Android skype. Quality is worse. sometimes never connects(though there is full 3G coverage in both the ends). Skype rings but the person on the other end never receive the ring. But when I talk from Skype subscription to phone it works ok. Is that mean that Skype is intentionally making this to happen and forcing the user to use their subscription? I don’t really understand this.
