Packet8 MobileTalk For the iPhone

Shortly after  Truphone announced the availability of their iPhone application, Packet8 announced the availability of thier Mobile VoIP application on the iPhone through their MobileTalk service. Although iPhone users can now utilize the MobileTalk service, it is not an actual software application like that of Truphone; it is a web based interface, which means you access the service via the iPhone’s web browser.

According to Packet8’s VP of Sales and Marketing, the growing iPhone user base was the main driver for offering this new interface.

“With the tremendous adoption rate of Apple’s first generation iPhone and today’s release of the new 3G version, the potential market for the Packet8 MobileTalk service has increased exponentially. The iPhone version of MobileTalk is even simpler to install than our version for other smart phones and our beta users were generally thrilled with its ease of use and quality.”

I suspect that it won’t be long before Packet8 offers an actual software application for the iPhone, that is, of course, if someone actually downloads Truphone’s iPhone application, which is provides an outstanding user experience after having used it a few times yesterday.
