Despite Doubts, Nokia Still King of Mobile VoIP

Hatter’s step on up. That’s right hate on me.

I was wrong.

Well, not completely wrong. I mean I still think Nokia felt pressure from carriers and the removal of the VoIP from two of it’s newer models, but I was wrong in not considering the fact that Nokia is the king of mobile VoIP before declaring they were “dumping VoIP.” How did I forget about it? I’m not really sure, however this TechCrunch post reminded me of just how dominant Nokia is in the mobile VoIP space.

According to the post, Nokia owns the largest share of the OS market and presumably handsets worldwide, so thus their handsets would be powered by and empowered by the entirety of mobile VoIP service providers; a point made clear to me today when Michael Morrisey asked me during an interview this afternoon, “Is their any one handset that is more widely supported by mobile VoIP providers then another?” .

Yeah Michael, Nok…Noki…Nokia.

Eh, so I was little near sighted. Don’t worry Nokia. I remember now that you are still the king of mobile VoIP (and you don’t make users jailbreak their phones in order to use VoIP either).
